San Jose Sharks vs. Dallas Stars – NHL Hockey Predictions

Posted on March 15th, 2011

San Jose Sharks (39-22-8) @ Dallas Stars (37-24-8)

Time: 8:30 pm EST

Predicted Score: Dallas Stars 4-3

Expert Picks: Guaranteed Winners!

Preview: The San Jose Sharks will head to the big D and take on the Dallas Stars.

San Jose is 39-22-8 on the season for 86 points. That currently pits them as the third seed in the Western Conference; four points behind Detroit, and three points ahead of Los Angeles and Phoenix. The Sharks are 21-11-3 on the road this season, but have lost two straight. San Jose will play at Chicago on Monday night, so they may be a bit road weary when they get to Dallas. The Sharks are led in scoring by center Joe Thornton. Thornton has dished out 40 assists and scored 16 goals on the season. San Jose is scoring 2.7 goals per game (15th) and allowing 2.5 goals per game (9th).

The Stars come into the game with a 37-24-8 record, which is fourth in the Pacific Division, but just a single point behind Los Angeles and Phoenix. The Stars are led in scoring by Brad Richards. Richards has 65 points, but doesn’t lead the team in either goals or assists. The Stars are 18th in offense in the NHL scoring 2.7 goals per game, and 14th in defense, also allowing 2.7 goals. Dallas, with 37 wins has already matched their win total from a season ago.

Our prediction for this game: Dallas picks up a big home win. Stars 4-3.
